NPFL finally get resumption date have scooped that the Nigeria Professional Football League will resume August 26, a top source disclosed after a rigorous meeting with the club managers.

The Nigeria elite football league went on break due to Nigeria participation in this year’s FIFA world cup that was hosted by Russia, but it was due to resume immediately after the biggest sporting event in the world.

“We have put plans on the way and all things being equal, the league should be back two weekends from now. We never planned to have this extension but this is one of the prices we had to pay for the crisis in the NFF”, our source said.


The League organisers are not oblivious that they will be on a race against time to meet the CAF deadline for submission of continental representatives.

“We will be playing midweek matches to catch up. We will be fine”, he added.

Lobi Stars still occupy the league standings with 47 points, they will travel to Minna to slug it out against sixth on the log Niger Tornadoes who are on 37 points from 24 games.
