Hapoel BeerSheeva starts Israeli title defence with a draw

Reigning Israeli Premier League Champions, Hapoel BeerSheeva on Saturday, played out a 1-1 draw away from home when they travelled up North to Kiryat Shmona at the Kiryat Shmona Municipal Stadium

As always the visitors took the lead through the point man, Guy Melamed in the 22nd minute of the game. Hapoel is a goal friendly club and seem to know how to find the back of the net this season which is a great positive

However, as always has been the case this season, the defence came undone early in the 2nd half as Nigel Hasselbaink dragged Kiryat back into the game in the 49th minute

Super Eagles midfield boss, John Ogu put in another stellar performance on the day and was unlucky on to get on the score sheet as have often been the case so far this season

With Ogu listed by Rohr as part of his squad against Seychelles, Nigerians look forward to seeing him in action this time and hope to see him replicate the fine form he is on right now at the National level

The draw leaves the Champions in the 6th position on the log

Hapoel will play hosts to Maccabi Tel Aviv on Sunday, 2nd September by 7pm Nigerian time as the quest to successfully defend the title and earn a shot among the Europe elite has already began.
