Coach Yinka Salihu grooming Real Stars
Former Coach of BBC Lions of Gboko, Yinka Salihu is not in a hurry to promote to the Nigeria topflight with Real Stars Football Club as he has constantly maintained his desire to see his players grow to become asset to the national team through his developmental football.
Yinka who guided his charges to a 1-0 home win over Gombe United at the Kaduna Township Stadium last weekend reiterated his position on progressive football which he believes would aid the players to compete under any circumstances.
“Our emphases is on developmental football which if lacking would backfire in long run,” he said to Felele247.com.ng.
“We have almost attain our set objectives which is to develop this team to be formidable. I am aware that it takes time to develop but I am happy with the progress we have made.
“In football, first you think of development and in the process when growth comes you grab the opportunity. If you try to grow without developing you a bound to fall.” the former national under-20 star said.
Speaking further, Yinka disclosed that he has always worked on the psychology of his players when playing matches whether away or at home in such away that they do not have preference on their next challenge.
“The players you see here can compete under any condition be it home or away matches because we work on their mentality on match days.
It has been easy for us to work on them because virtually all the players fall under the age of 20 except our captain.” he concluded.
