NPFL clubs, NNL on collision course over eight teams promotion as meeting ends in deadlock have scooped that the stage appears set for a major resistance from the Nigeria Professional Football League Clubs Owners Association on the proposed eight teams promotion adopted by Nigeria National League Annual General Assembly in Abuja last weekend for the 2018-2019 abridged League season.

While the Nigeria National League tabled their resolutions to allow the two top clubs from group of 4 (Remo Stars, Delta Force, Gombe United, Kogi United, Kada City, Bendel Insurance and Real Stars) play in the topflight next season without a play offs,  NPFL clubs seems to be tolling a different path.

A meeting scheduled by the League Management Company with the Nigeria Professional Football League Clubs Owners Association to ratify the proposal lasted for over three hours yesterday night without a resolution being reached.

The meeting is expected to continue today. But in another twist, the League Management Company and Clubs in the NPFL have given NNL two weeks to conclude their play offs and present four teams that will be promoted.

It could be recalled that the Nigeria Football Federation in its Executive Committee Meeting held in Asaba mandated the NNL Board to hold a meeting with all NNL Clubs, after which an expanded meeting involving the NPFL and some NFF members take place, to determine the way forward for the promotion/relegation of teams in the NNL for the year.
