Generation Foot refuse to play Zamalek, set to return to Senegal

Senegalese club Génération Foot are set to head back to their country after refusing to play Zamalek at Borg Al Arab stadium in Alexandria.

The match was initially supposed to take place on Saturday at Petrosport stadium in Cairo.

However, Generation Foot were told by CAF just 24 hours before kick-off that the game will be postponed and the location will be changed, which sparked outrage among club officials.

The Senegalese club reacted by going to Petrosport stadium on Saturday, assuming no rearrangements were made by CAF.

Zamalek officials were then forced to intervene in order to convince Generation Foot to go back to their hotel.

After negotiations, Generation Foot have not agreed to CAF’s terms and refused to travel to Alexandria to face Zamalek at Borg Al Arab Stadium despite being offered transportation by the White Knights.

It’s worth mentioning that Zamalek have already lost the first encounter against Generation Foot in the first leg of the CAF Champions League’s first round as they were beaten 2-1 earlier this month.

The White Knights have already named their squad for the second leg, as they prepare for the game hoping that Generation Foot could cope with the rearrangements made by CAF.
