The referees to officiate the matches between Zamalek and Esperance de Tunis in the CAF Champions League quarter finals have been confirmed.
Following their encounter in the CAF Super Cup this week, there are still more matches to come between Zamalek and Esperance de Tunis in the coming month.
Having both progressed through their CAF Champions League groups, the Egyptian and Tunisian giants have been drawn to meet in the quarter finals of the competition and as such the referees have been selected.
Moroccan referee Radwan Zayed will take charge of the first leg in Egypt, in his first contintenal game since the controversial match between Al Ahly and Al Hilal Omdurman a few weeks ago which saw many crowd disturbances in response to his decisions.
A week later, Algeria’s Mustapha Ghorbal will officiate the second leg. Ghorbal will be familiar with each team as he was one of the assistants in the aforementioned CAF Super Cup between them last week.
Zamalek will hope that they can be the team to stop Esperance in their bid to win three CAF Champions League titles in a row, which is a feat that has never been achived in the history of the competition.
The first leg between Zamalek and Esperance takes place in Egypt on Friday 28th of February at 6PM Egyptian time, before the second leg in Tunisia on Friday 6th of March at 9PM.
