Abat outfit FC One Rocket of Akwa Ibom State have successfully acquired Nigeria National League slot, they will slug it out with other Nigeria National League clubs in the new 2020/2021 season which is expected to kick off in September/October 2020.
The President of the club, Rt.Hon. (Otuekong) Nse Essien, let the cat out of the bag in his speech during the Thanksgiving Service of the Akwa Ibom State Chapter of the Sports Writers Association of Nigeria (SWAN), which took place yesterday, July 12, 2020, at The Apostolic Church, Four Towns Assembly, Uyo.
Rt.Hon. Essien, who is the lawmaker representing the great people of Onna in the Akwa Ibom State House of Assembly, expressed excitement with the elevation gotten via a deal swap with Collins Edwin Sports Club of Lagos.
FC ONE Rocket, is fondly called The Indomitable Ambassadors formed less than a year ago were registered to play in the Nigeria Nationwide Division 1, but the league was aborted due to one of the Covid-19 precautionary recommendations.
Tinkered by a renowned CAF licensed Coach, Emmanuel King, a.k.a Emu, FC ONE Rocket were undefeated in 2019 (in all competitions). And the combination of passionately pro-welfare management, ingenious technical depth and crop of carefully recruited footballers with unique talents, Indomitable Ambassadors, and NNL is a marriage with high prospects.
Currently on the break with all entitlements paid up to date, the team will resume when the ban on football activities is lifted and will add to the two (2) teams from Akwa Ibom State currently playing in the NNL: Vandrezzer FC and Ibom Youths FC. Coincidentally, these two(2) teams have suffered losses in all their encounters with FC ONE Rocket.
Surely football fans in Akwa Ibom State would be treated to an array of derbies when the next football season commences in the NNL. And much would be expected from the new addition to the NNL whose slogan is, “taking football to the world”.
