Congo Kinshahsa giants TP Mazembe have announced the departure of Jackson Muleka to Standard Leige for an undisclosed fee
Muleka has been outstanding since joining the first team of the Lubumbashi based club.
The 20-year-old has been subject of interest from across the continent since bursting onto the scene with the Ravens as a 17-year-old after graduating from the esteemed Ecofoot Katumbi academy.
Mamelodi Sundowns and Zamalek were said to have made enquiries about his availability while Al Ahly saw a R40-million bid rejected by club president Moise Katumbi – who has continued his stance of not selling to direct continental rivals.
French outfits Olympique de Marseille, LOSC Lille and RC Lens were the latest to register interest but Mazembe have now confirmed that Standard have won the race as they ‘negotiated without intermediaries’.
“Tout Puissant Mazembe is delighted with this change which has taken place, in the interest of the three parties, thanks to the close collaboration between the two clubs and without the intervention of intermediaries,” the statement reads
“This collaboration had already allowed in the past the transfer of former players of TP Mazembe, Christian Luyindama, Merveille Bope and Jonathan Bolingi.
