Basking in the euphoria of the 0-1 victory over host Rivers United in the opening game, Lobi Stars are set to confront Akwa United aiming at another three points on Sunday November 8, 2020 4PM at Sharks Stadium Port Harcourt.
Akwa United on Saturday November 7, 2020 afternoon recorded their own victory over Cynosure FC in the second game of Group A. In as much as Cynosure showed some resistance, the end result did not reflect it. The resounding 3-1 victory of Akwa United depicts a mince meat ride over Cynosure.
With both teams having 3 points each in the kitty, the winner of Sunday encounter will sure take the lead on the table of Group A. On a scale of balance, one will give it to Lobi Stars having cleanly carted home victory over Rivers United. Over running the kind or resistance and fierce opposition of Rivers United in Port Harcourt signifies Lobi Stars as a moving train and could crush any form of obstacle on their way to victory.
Speaking to Lobi Stars media, Coach Kabiru Dogo showed a high level of confidence in his team, in his words; our aim for taking part in the tournament is to test the team and prepare for the league but because much is been expected of Lobi Stars and himself, he will not leave any stone unturned in order to put up impressive performances in all the games despite the fact that the team is not yet 100%. The boys are spiritedly focused and would want to assure the government and people of Benue State that every game will be taken seriously with winning mentality. The result against Rivers United won’t enter our head and my players are made to know that.
