Rabat – The 2020-2021 Botola Pro football season will start on December 4 and end on August 18, the Royal Moroccan Football Federation (FRMF) announced on Saturday.
At the end of a meeting held on Saturday by videoconference with the National Professional Football League (LNFP), the National Amateur Football League (LNFA), the National Women’s Football League (LNFF) and the National Diverse Football League (LNFD) , the executive committee of the FRMF has decided that this Botola season, which will be drawn on Sunday, will begin on December 4 and end on August 18, according to a statement from the federal body published on its website.
For their part, the final stages of the Throne Cup will take place simultaneously with the end of the football season, the federal body underlined in the press release, adding that the national clubs will participate in an international competition each season according to the rank occupied in the ranking of the national championship and in the matches of the Throne Cup.
During this meeting, the president of the FRMF, Fouzi Lekjaa, explained that the objective for next season is to ensure the launch of the sports season in response to the expectations of all components of the national round ball, adding that for this season, the federal body has concluded a contract with the telephone operator “Inwi” as the new sponsor of the national championship.
Mr. Lekjaa also announced that the general assemblies (GA) of clubs, regional leagues, the LNFP, LNFA and the FRMF will be held on December 4, 2020, specifying that the FRMF will be at the disposal of these bodies to provide them with support. technique in order to hold their GA.
Furthermore, Mr. Lekjaa called on the LNFP and the LNFA to develop a vision to develop the competition mode and present it to the Steering Committee and the General Assembly of the FRMF for approval.
Regarding women’s football, the president of the FRMF announced that next season will see the launch of Botola Pro in this category, the first of its kind in Morocco, calling on all stakeholders to contribute to the success of this great project.
With regard to the coaches’ contracts, it was approved at this meeting that in the event of a breach of the contract between the club and the coach, the latter cannot perform a technical function within another club in the same division. and during the same season.
LNFP vice-president Abdessalam Belegchour detailed the league’s vision for the upcoming football season, stressing that the FRMF has engaged with a foreign company, in charge of programming the Spanish and English championships. of the first division, for the programming of the Botola Pro, in order to facilitate the smooth running of the national championship.
On the other hand, the league explored the possibility of using Video-Assist Refereeing (VAR) technology, which was very successful last season in Botola Pro D1, in four Botola Pro matches. D2 season 2020-2021 with a view to generalizing it to the rest of the championship.
For his part, the secretary general of the LNFP, Khalid Mghifri, gave a presentation on the past season of the national youth championship, which was suspended due to the coronavirus pandemic, approving the classification adopted on the 22nd day on 14 March 2020.
In addition, the general secretary of the LNFP indicated that the next season of the national youth championship will start on December 12, 2020 and end on July 18, 2021.
