The Brazilian Jorvan Vieira (67) has been named the new coach of Etoile du Sahel, the star club announced on its official page, Felele247.com.ng understands.
Former coach of Al Ismaïly, Vieira signed a one-year renewable contract. He will be assisted by his compatriot Filipe Salviano, who in turn signed a one-year renewable contract.
He is expected to arrive in Tunisia on Monday to take charge of Etoile du Sahel ahead of the start of the new season after media presentation by the club hierarchy.
Etoile had struggled recently finishing fourth in the league table last season, with their lost trophy coming four years ago when they won the league title back in 2016.
They will begin their continental campaign in the first round of Africa’s second interclub competition CAF Confederation Cup against the winners of Arab Contractors and AS Arta Solar7 of Djibouti, with Emad El-Nahas’ men winning the first-leg away from home.
Also, joining Etoile du Sahel is legendry Egyptian goalkeeper El Hadary as a goalkeeper coach, both Viera and El Hadary had work before in Al Ismaily
El-Hadary had announced his retirement from football in 2019 after having a short stint at former Egyptian Premier League side Nogoom FC.
However, several reports emerged recently suggesting that the 47-year-old would return to the pitch with ZED FC, opening what seemed to be a closed chapter for the stopper.
After revealing he received an offer to make his comeback, El-Hadary announced that he has officially hung up his boots and will shift his focus towards coaching.
