Imama Amapakabo could be sacked as Abia Warriors coach before the end of January after the club’s management handed him a three-match ultimatum to save his job,Felele247.com.ng understands.
This comes after Warriors were thumped 3-1 at home by Jigawa Golden Stars in a match-day four clash in the Nigeria Professional Football League at the Enyimba International Stadium, Aba on Wednesday.
Warriors had previously lost to Akwa United, Enyimba and Rivers United and have no point from their first four games of the 2020/21 NPFL season.
“The management of Abia Warriors Football Club of Umuahia has given the technical crew the mandate to win their next three games or be ready to face the music,” a statement signed by Warriors’ media officer, Nwosu Chigozie, read.
“The management held an emergency meeting with the coaches at the club’s secretariat in Umuahia following the dismal performance of the team in the ongoing Nigeria Professional Football League, where Abia Warriors have lost their first four league games.
“The management reiterated that the team has no reason not to do well considering the calibre of players in the team, pointing out that the technical crew, led by Imama Amapakabo, has enjoyed the greatest support and cooperation ever given to any crew in the club’s history.”
Abia Warriors play IfeanyiUbah, MFM and Lobi Stars in their next three NPFL games.
