Kano Pillars FC continued their doggedness in the ongoing 2020/21 Nigeria Professional Football League season, NPFL, after putting aside Rivers Utd FC of Port Harcourt by a lone goal courtesy of Nwagua Nyima
The Sai Masu played the larger part of the 2nd half with 10-men after Abbas Rabiu received the marching orders due to a second bookable offence in the 55th minute of the encounter.
The four-time Nigeria Professional Football League champions, however, took the lead in the 20th minute through Nwagua Nyima, who benefitted from a rebound ball from Rivers Utd goaltender, Theophilus Afelokhai for his second goal of the season.
In the post-match press conference, technical adviser of Kano Pillars, Mr Emmanuel Lionel Soccoia has commended his players for a job well done.
‘I really appreciate the commitment shown by my players today and they deserved to be commended because the game is huge and they justified the confidence we have on them’, Mr Lionel said.
On his part, goal scorer of the match, Nwagua Nyima has dedicated his goal to his teammates, technical crew, management, fans and the Kano State Government.
He vowed that they would continue to do their best and would ensure they put smiles to the faces of their fans and the Kano State Government at the end of the season.
After the completion of the Match Day 6, the Pride of Kano have now moved up to 5th on the NPFL log with 11 points from 6 matches.
The Sai Masu Gida will on Saturday face Akwa Utd of Uyo in the Match Day 7 of the ongoing season and according to the image-maker of the club, Rilwanu Idris Malikawa, the team would depart Kaduna for Uyo on Thursday morning.
