Kwara fans on Sunday afternoon got a relief after Kwara United’s 1-0 win over visiting Wikki Tourists in NPFL match day 24 encounter.
Harmony Boys went into this game with wounded hearts after suffering defeats against Jigawa and Lobi Stars in their last two games.
They however started the match against Wikki impressively looking for an early goal with Joshua Agboola’s shot parried away by Ibrahim Pius.
Kwara United winger Abdulsalam Abdulsalam suffered an injury in the second minutes and had to be rushed to the hospital where he is now responding well to treatment.
The hosts had the chance to net the first goal in the 10th minute when Agboola delivered a brilliant pass for Otegbeye whose shot was blocked by Olayinka Oladapo.
Wikki got a counter attack two minutes before the end of the first half which could have given them the lead, but Kwara United goalie Abdulateef Ishola produced a fine save.
Kwara United changed their pattern of play to more attacking style in the second half looking for the opener at all cost with Issah Saidu missing a glorious opportunity.
Biffo and his wards had to wait until the 76th minute before Chinedu Ufere’s superb header gave Kwara United their goal.
Wikki Tourists tried all their best not to leave Ilorin with a defeat, but they were unable to get the needed equaliser as the match ended 1-0 in favor of Kwara United.
Kwara United will now take the winning spirit to Jos where they will face Plateau United in their next game this coming Wednesday.
