British clubs Celtic, Newcastle United and Burnley are all reportedly chasing the services of Sampdoria’s Gambian defender Omar Colley.
The 27-year-old Gambian international was a key figure for Samp through the 2019-20 season, appearing in 31 of the club’s 38 league matches.
According to Calciomercato, the trio of British clubs are in a race to sign the player ahead of the 2020-21 campaign, with the likes of Southampton and West Ham United credited with interest earlier in the year.
Sampdoria are reportedly seeking a £13 million fee for the defender, having signed him from Belgium’s KRC Genk for just over half of that back in July 2018.
“Already in January there were real interests from the Premier League. No offers have been made, but he could adapt himself to English football by characteristics,” his agent Umberto Riva told TMW.
Colley’s European club career has also seen him feature for Finland’s KuPS and Swedish side Djugarden.
