Nigerian champions Plateau United will host Tanzanian giants Simba SC in the first preliminary round of 2020/21 CAF Champions League.
The Nigerian champions will host the Tanzanian giants Simba SC for the first time at home, although they looked a strong team, the Wekundu wa Msimbazi went ahead and signed key players like Larry Bwalya, Bernard Morrison, Chris Mugalu and Joash Onyango who will be tasked with pushing Simba further in the continental competition.
They have lost two matches in the league already and the Tanzanian champions will have to fight and see whether they can advance far, than what they afforded last season. Simba were eliminated in the preliminary stage by Mozambican champions UD Songo at their own turf when they went down 1-0 in August 2019.
Plateau United are yet to play a competitive since the outbreak of Corona Virus which forced the League Management Company to abandon the league in April 2020.
The Jos outfits were also busy in the transfer market, with the arrival of Dakkada FC Moses Effiong, Aliu Salaudeen and Kingsley Innocent who joined from Jigawa Golden Stars and former Abia Warriors striker Sunday Adetunji also joined the 2017 champions from the Czech Republic.
Plateau United manager disclosed that “they have a good Coach, Sven Vandenbroeck, they play good football, they press hard, control the ball and try to deny opponents space to play”
