Rangers international manager, Salisu yusuf said that He’s encouraged by his team performance in their goalless draw with Akwa united in the Nigeria professional football league, NPFL matchday 22 encounter on Monday at the Nest of Champions, Uyo.
Speaking to the journalists after the game, coach Yusuf stated that coming from a home loss and playing against a side that was on top of the log standings their home ground, meant his players had to performed better every seconds of the game to earn something out of the game.
“We expected the game to be tough because they’re leading the log and have been unbeaten in their last 11 consecutive games, coming into this encounter.
“It was a very difficult because towards the final minutes of the game, the pressure was so intense we had to calm the team down not to commit fouls inside the box. The boys did very well to be calm and composed to fetch us this point, which is very vital towards achieving our set targets at the end of the season. In the red card, Traor, made a mistake and took the card for the team with the foul outside the box”.
“We created some chances that we could have scored, but I’m happy that we earn at least a point from the game, Salisu Yusuf said”.
The Rangers gaffer will be expecting his side to return to winning ways, when Rangers international next play host to Jigawa Golden Stars in the NPFL Matchday 23 Mid-week Encounter on Thursday at the Nnamdi AzikiweStadiumm, Enugu.
