Akwa United Safe hand Adeyinka Adewale has set a new goalkeeping record in the Nigeria Professional Football League with his clean sheet against People’s elephant on MD 32.
on MD 31 Adewale Adeyinka matched Kano Pillars’ Suraj Ayeleso 3 year record of 15 clean sheets, a record that was set in the 2016/2017 npfl season while with Nasarawa United when he kept a clean sheet against Plateau United in Jos.
Speaking after setting a new record the soft spoken goalkeeper attributed his feat to the collective efforts of his team mate as he is working hand in hand with the best technical crew in the league.
“It gives me a great sense of fulfilment to have surpassed Suraj Ayeleso’s record of 15 clean sheet as i will continue to work hard so has to keep improving myself in all aspects of the game”.
on his target for the season, the Ex Abs goal tender believes winning the league will crown the collective efforts of his side.
” The dream of every player is to win silverware and mine is not an exception, i will be happy to win the league crown then represent Akwa United on the continent, he concluded”.
a late penalty strike from Charles Atshimene made sure Akwa United defeated Enyimba on MD 32 as Adeyinka Adewale became the first goalkeeper to keep 16 clean sheets in the domestic as he needed just 27 games to achieve that feat.
