 We are going to make use of the preseason tournament – Boboye

Head Coach of Akwa United Kennedy Boboye wants his team to make the most of the 2021 Akwa Ibom State Football Association Super Four Pre-season Tournament as they continue their preparations ahead of the 2021/2022 Nigeria Professional Football League season.

Coach Boboye in a reaction after the draws ceremony of the tournament at the Godswill Akpabio International Stadium, Nest of Champions in Uyo, said the competition will afford him the opportunity to really engage his players in competitive games as they continue their preparations for the commencement of the 2021/2022 football season.

Coach Boboye told the club’s official website ” This is one competition that we will take very seriously because it’s will afford us the opportunity to be involved in competitive games, build our team and be fully prepared for the new football season”.

“Teams all over the country are engaging in pre-season tournaments. All the participating teams are good sides and we are excited that we will be participating in this tournament because we know it will really help us to effectively blend our team ahead of the new season”.

NPFL champions will face three other teams namely; FC One Rocket, Ibom Youth FC and Dakkada FC in a round robin format from Tuesday 16th to Saturday 20th November, 2021 at the Nest of Champions.

The Promise Keepers will kick start their campaign on Tuesday 16th November against FC One Rocket by two O’clock in the afternoon.

They will play their second game of the tournament on Thursday 18th November against Ibom Youth FC by two O’clock in the afternoon before engaging Dakkada FC in their final group game on Saturday 20th November, by 4 O’clock in the afternoon. All matches will be played at the Godswill Akpabio International Stadium, Nest of Champions.

The Commissioner for Youth and Sports Sir Monday Ebong Uko while unveiling the tournament’s trophy announced that the top three teams will share a prize money of One Million Naira.

According to the organizers, the team with the highest number of points after three rounds of matches will emerge the champions and will receive a gold-plated trophy and a cash prize of Five Hundred Thousand Naira, the second-placed team will receive Three Hundred Thousand Naira while the Third-placed team will receive a cash prize of Two Hundred Thousand Naira.
