…reveals payment of Heartland Queens Fc outstanding salaries
The Imo state Ministry of Youth and Sports Development ably led by the Commissioner, Hon. Dan Chike Ogu has urged members of the Sports Writers Association of Nigeria (SWAN), Imo State Chapter, to support its various programmes to help develop football and sports in the state.
Hon. Ogu fondly called “The Golden Commissioner” by youths and sports stakeholders made the appeal in a press statement released during the 2021 End of Year Party organised by the Hon. Everest Ezihe led Imo SWAN in Owerri saying
“The state is making landmark successes in the development of sports under the pragmatic leadership of His Excellency, Governor Hope Uzodimma.
Commissioner Dan Ogu who was a special guest at the event (though he was not in attendance due to urgent matters of state that he had to attend to) said sportswriters are important to every programme and vision of the Ministry of Youth and Sports Development adding, “We can move the state forward, we can discover and harness talents’ together.”
“I need your support to further succeed in uplifting sports in our dear state. We are not Mr. know all, you can call our attention to issues that promote development anytime”, the Commissioner further stated.
Hon. Dan Ogu revealed that his ministry has done a lot at the grassroots by giving out massive pieces of equipment for various sporting activities to primary and secondary schools across Imo state and further revealed that his minsitry will further partner with the Ministry of Education to bring back school sports to its pride of place as well as the construction and reconstruction of sports facilities.
He commended various groups and individuals who have helped to revive sports in the state and reiterated that sponsors are being sought not just for Heartland Fc and Heartland Queens, but also teams from other sports across board in the state.
Hon. Ogu assured that he would support any programme by the sportswriters in the state, describing them as partners in progress in sports and urged them to eschew rancour but work together with peace and love.
He revealed that players and management of Heartland Queens Fc on Monday were paid their outstanding salaries and said that of Heartland Fc will be done in a couple of days.
