Senegalese president assures Diamniadio Olympic Stadium to be in February

Senegal President S Macky Sall has reinstated his assurance that the Diamniadio Olympic Stadium will be completed and ready for use by February 2022.

The Diamniadio Olympic is located in Diamniadio, in Dakar, Senegal. It will be the national stadium of the Senegal national football team with a capacity of 50,000 and also the host venue of the 2026 Summer Youth Olympics.

The stadium is a replica of the Allianz Arena home ground of Bayern Munchen, multisport complex will be a multi-purpose stadium, which can host football, rugby and athletics,  The stadium will have a capacity of 50,000 and will be built by Summa. It’ll host the 2026 Summer Youth Olympics.

“I’m pleased to announce that we will deliver the Senegal stadium to our sporting youth on February 22, 2022.”

“The modern 50,000-seat complex will be lit by solar power, and will also be equipped with amenities that meet the highest standards in the field, including two training grounds, one of which has 2000 seats, with an athletics track of international standards, ” He said

Diamniadio Olympic Stadium will have 4 dressing rooms, one of which will exclusively dedicate to the Teranga Lions of Senegal and also 3 hectares of the solar farm which will power the stadium.

The Pitch of the stadium will be a hybrid “a mix of natural grass and synthetic microfibers”.

In addition, The Diamniadio Olympic Stadium will have a 1,000 m3 tank for watering the grass and a 2 Megawatt solar power plant by the FIFA Green Goal criteria.
