Hamza Abara and Fatai Osho in NPFL title race challenge

Plateau United assistant coach Hamza Abara and head coach of Rivers United Fatai Osho have been outstanding for the past four seasons in the Nigeria domestic football scene.

Let me start with the Minna born tactcian Hamza Abara his football coaching career In Minna with a non leadgue side FC Top Squard Football Club immediately after his National Sports institute before obtaining his CAF C and B licences and another professional football coaching certificate, Hamza Abara proceeded to Minna based amateur club Black Stars FC in 2005/2006 where he secured Nigeria 🇳🇬 Nationwide League division 2 promotion for the club before joining Sokoto United where he guided the seat caliphate to third position on the league standings after joining his home state team Niger Tornadoes as head coach with Abdullahi Biffo as the team technical adviser before the Ikon Allah boys gained promotion to the Nigeria Professional Football League in 2015.

In 2006/2007 he was appointed assistant head coach where he assisted John Obuh in Niger Tornadoes.

In 2017/2018 season he was appointed as head coach to Bernard Ogbe after Erasmus Onu left the club, after some games in charge Hamza “Youngest Coach” was given the nod to stand-in as the technical adviser on interim bases after the sacking of Bernad Ogbe.

Abara quickly swung into action and guided the Ikon Allah boy’s 9 matches unbeaten runs as the first coach to do in the NPFL.

With that performance, eight times Nigerian 🇳🇬 champions and two times CAF Champions League winners Enyimba engaged the Minna born tactician as assistant manager to his ex-course mate Fatai Osho at the Aba based club.

He joined 2017 Champions Plateau United alongside his ex-course mate Fidelis Illechukwu at the peace boys dugout after being given the task to guide the team to win the current season league and it has been a rollercoaster for both coaches

Fatai Osho is also regarded as one of Nigeria 🇳🇬 domestic football brightest minds alongside his former colleague at Enyimba FC Hamza Abara and Fidelis Ilechuckwu of Plateau United.

Osho started his professional managerial career with Remo Stars after being spotted by the club president Hon. Kunle Soname were guided the Ijebu-Remo based on their first-ever NPFL promotion after returning to the club for the second time.

Both coaches reunite at Enyimba in 2019 for the first time after their CAF B coaching course, with a task to fortify the team to compete with the likes of Simba SC, Orlando Pirates, Mamelodi Sundowns, Primero d Augusto and Al Àhly to mention a few in the CAF Confederation cup in 2019/2020 and 2020/2021season group stages.

With their performance on the continent Rivers, United and Plateau United were left no option to engage the two coaches to continue their work in both clubs.

The 2021/2022 NPFL title is arguably between both Fatai Osho and his former colleague Hamza Abara because of their coaching philosophy in Nigeria domestic football.
