Nasarawa United beat the odds place sixth on the log on the final day

This was made possible after they picked up their first away win against drowned MFM FC at the Otunba Dipo Dina Stadium, Ijebu-ode, Ogun State, on the final day of the league.

A highly contentious encounter with many missed opportunities saw Chinedu Ohanachom’s goal in the 32nd minute courtesy of Ikenna Offor’s assist separating both sides at the end of the day.

Today’s result means Nasarawa United wrapped up the 2021/22 campaign on 6th position with 53 points, the same spot they ended last season.

The team will now turn focus to the Aiteo Federation Cup, formerly known as the FA Cup, where they were losing finalists in 2021.

*POST-MATCH REACTIONS*
Coach Bala Nikyu(NAS): “Well, this victory came at the right time, and this is because our position wasn’t too good going into today’s game.

“But with today’s result, we have finished the season on the same spot we finished last season, that is 6th, which is really good for us, because no one gave it to us.

“Yes, the league may have come and gone, but we won’t relent.

“We will return home, correct our mistakes and prepare for the Aiteo Cup which we are the current runners-up.

“We are aiming to win it this time around and possibly play in the continent.

“As for the absence of Michael Tochukwu in today’s game, he is down with illness while Aliyu Abdullahi picked up an ankle injury during our last home training session in Lafia.

“But like I have always said, I don’t build my team around one or two players. I always get valuable options ready in case of eventuality.”
