Plateau United General Manager harps on discipline as team departs Jos for preseason tournament

One of Nigeria’s flag bearers in the CAF Champions League, Plateau United Football Club of Jos has lined up series of pre-season friendlies as they intensify preparations ahead of their first leg preliminary round match against A.S Mandji of Gabon next month.

The two-time Nigeria Professional Football League champions who emerged runners-up at the end of last season, will trade tackles with the home-based Super Eagles at the Moshood Abiola Stadium, Abuja on Tuesday, before proceeding to Ikenne , the home ground of Remo Stars in Ogun State to participate in a pre-season tournament which kicks-off on Thursday.

Speaking shortly before the team’s departure to Abuja, General Manager of the club, Pius Henwan urged the players to imbibe discipline as their watchword noting that without discipline , success will be difficult to achieve.

“Remember that some of you were dropped last season on account of indiscipline. That is going to be a continuous proces and anybody who is not ready to work in tandem with the club aspirations, management will not hesitate to dispense with his services as there is no sacred cows in this team.

The General Manager directed the Technical Adviser, Coach Fidelis Ilechukwu not to hesitate to drop any player who indulges in any misconduct capable of bringing the name of the club to disrepute, stressing that management have zero tolerance for indiscipline.

Having failed to make it to the group stage of the competition in two previous attempts, the General Manager challenged the players to brace up for the task ahead, stating that anything short of that is unacceptable.

Technical Adviser of the team, Coach Fidelis Ilechukwu appreciated the unflinching support he received from management and the Plateau State government since he joined the team and appealed for more of that as they fly Nigeria’s flag in the CAF Champions League.

Ilechukwu assured that the technical crew under his leadership will work extra hard to prepare the team for the challenges ahead and solicited the support of all and sundry to enable the team succeed.

Captain of the team, Golbe Elisha while commending management for their support and encouragement, promised to be of best behavior as they prepare for the continental club competition and the NPFL.
