NNL Super 4: Bayelsa United and Doma United played goalless draw

The Nigerian National league (NNL) Super Four kicked off in Yenagoa, the Bayelsa state Capital on Wednesday as host Bayelsa United failed to record a win over their opponents, Doma United FC.
The reigning Aiteo Cup champions created several scoring chances in the first half but were unable to bridge the defense of their opponents as Doma United held them to a goalless full-time draw.
Bayelsa United Forward, Mizo Robert had the first chance to give his side the lead as early as the fourth minutes but saw his shot saved by the Doma United FC goalkeeper Zalli Abullahi who was on top of his game thought out the encounter.
The Prosperity Boy’s thought they had taken the lead just before the halftime mark as Stephen Wisdom long range strike hit the woodwork but on rushing attacker, Garando Tekena failed to score from the Doma United shot stopper spill with the first half ending goalless.
Host Bayelsa United came out in search of the first goal of the day in the second half as Ekpo Daniel failed to convert after a one-on-one situation with the goalkeeper of Doma United FC in 50 minutes.
Doma United continued to defend astutely and almost got themselves the lead but the combined defensive awareness of Gabriel Biriduba and Ebedebiri prevented the host from going behind in the 80 minutes courtesy of Hilary Ekawu effort for Doma United.
Action continues on Thursday, the first match of the day will see Doma United square up against El-Kanemi Warriors at 2pm as Bayelsa United tackle neighbors Bendel Insurance by 4pm.
