Confederation of African Football has rejected Congo Kinshasa giants DC Morena Pembe home ground Stade de Pentecost Martyrs Stadium for their CAF Confederation Cup 2023 group stage matches after failing to meet the African football governing body stadium requirement, Felele247 Media understands.
The 100,000 capacity edifice situated in the heart of Kinshasa and arguably the second biggest stadium in Africa and biggest and largest in capacity in Congo Kinshasa could not meet the necessary requirement for football activities which include AFCON 2025 qualifying games.
CAF pointed out the reason for not approving the stadium
The installation of the individual seats for the spectators was not done in accordance with the correct attention required. –
The stadium’s audiovisual equipment is old and outdated.
-Individual VIP seats do not meet standards – A dedicated VIP/VVIP entrance and exit are required in the stadium
-Media work area is non-existent – The stadium does not have a working room for the media
– Work done in the press box is unsatisfactory and requires professional assessment –
-The Press Tribune must be covered and occupy a central position (+ Sockets and WiFi) –
The anti-doping room is old – The stadium must be provided with a nurse for the players, the officials with the equipment required by CAF
– The stadium does not have a treatment room for teams and officials – Poor camera alignment – No dedicated media entrance from outside
– The stadium does not have a press conference room – The room indicated for the conference is in very poor condition and does not meet CAF standards.
Motema Pembe will have to search for a new venue to play their CAF Confederation Cup group B games which comparies of Nigeria’s Rivers United, Diables Noire and Ivorian giants ASEC Mimosas.
Motema Pembe are already in Cote d’ Ivoire to face ASEC Mimosas in their first group B match, with Rivers United playing away to Diables Noirs
