Mighty Jets International vs HypeBuzz FC could not hold due to insecurity

The most anticipated Nigeria National League matchday 03 encounters between host Mighty Jets International and HypeBuzz FC of Abuja could not go on as planned as the visiting team, HypeBuzz FC, saw the inability of Mighty Jets International to provide security personnel as agreed during the pre-match meeting held on Monday morning.

Both teams arrived at the New Jos International Stadium at exactly 2:30 Monday afternoon with match officials, but the absence of security personnel agreed earlier in the day quickly prompted HypeBuzz FC general coordinator Shuaibu Yakubu to call the attention of the match commissioner and match assessor to the situation on the ground.

Both the match commissioner, Tanko Audu, and the center referee, both from Benue State, requested the FA, and some officials of Mighty Jets International requested the number of security personnel.

After both the State, the FA, and Mighty Jets International failed to provide the requested security personnel, the Match Commissioner and Center Referee Damian Akure agreed that the match would not hold due to the non-availability of the security personnel requested during the pre-match meeting held in the morning. Both said they were following the rules and regulations guiding the Nigeria National League.

Speaking to HB Media, HypeBuzz FC general coordinator Shuaibu Yakubu disclosed that “We are ready to play the match; we’ve been for two days, but due to lack of security personnel on the ground, we can’t play because the safety of our players, coaches, and other backroom staff is our main priority.”

They (Plateau FA and Mighty Jets International) promised us that there would be 20 police personnel for the match, and only two police personnel showed up for the match. How do you want us to execute this match, and is there any guarantee for both teams’ safety during and after the match?”

The Chief Scout also hinted at the situation on the ground, saying, “We are disappointed, not because we did not see our lads play this match, but because our lads did not play with one of the oldest and most respected clubs in Nigeria, Mighty Jets International.”

“They thought they could get away with their antics because they see us as a new team, but unknown to them, a representative of the Nigeria National League was present at the stadium.”
