Nasarawa United FC 2-0 Mighty Jets Int’l FC
It was an entertaining North Central derby affair between two sides in the match day three of the Nigeria National League, NNL: Mighty Jets International FC and Nasarawa United.
As early as the 18th minute, Mighty Jets Int’l FC talisman, Joseph Jatau break away after his team attempted to make the most of recovered possession, but it was not to count as he missed the early chance.
The home team, Nasarawa United, quickly recovered from a shaky start as striker Chinedu Ohanachom had his shot saved by Mighty Jets goalkeeper Roduwe Gobum to deny the Solid Miners an opening goal in the 22nd minute.
As promising as the first half was, it ended goaless, perhaps an indication of how well both teams defended.
Nasarawa United will then make a couple of changes early in the second half, which saw the introduction of Shammasu Mohammed who would later prove to be hero for the Solid Miners.
Shammasu broke the deadlock for the home team in the 57th minute with a header from a corner kick the visitors’ defenders failed to deal with.
Any hope of Mighty Jets restoring parity was dashed in the 80th minute after Shammasu again struck to double the lead for Nasarawa United to end the game 2-0 in favour of the Solid Miners
In his reaction after the game, acting coach of Mighty Jets Int’l FC, Najib Mabo, said the team will remain focused despite the painful loss in Lafia.
“Our loss to Nasarawa United is a painful one but we shall remain focused and determined to win our next match in Jos, I believe our boys are capable of turning things around.
“I urge our teeming supporters to remain faithful, we will make them proud.
