AFCON2023: Nigeria To Play Two Friendlies Against Congo DR and Burkina Faso
As the final phase of the 34th edition of the Côte d’Ivoire 2023 Africa Cup of Nations is about to kick off, a number of teams participating in the competition have planned to play international friendly matches, as part of the preparation for the Championship that will start on January 13, 2024 in Ivory Coast.
Friendlies have been confirmed by the teams heading to the CAN 2023 which will bring together 24 nations and run until February 11, 2023, in West Africa.
As part of their preparations, Africa’s triple champion Nigeria has planned to play two friendly matches.
Nigeria versus RDC
Nigeria versus Burkina Faso
The Super Eagles of Nigeria will face the Leopards of the Democratic Republic of Congo (DRC) and the Burkina Faso Stallions.
Ghana versus Namibia
Africa’s quadruple champions “Black Stars” of Ghana have scheduled a friendly match against Botswana.
Egypt versus Tanzania
Historic champions Egypt will face Tanzania in another friendly as both teams prepare for a tough group stage.
Cameroon versus Zambia
Burkina Faso will also face the Democratic Republic of Congo (DRC) when the quintet winner Cameroon will face the 2012 Chipolopolo winner Zambia in Jeddah.
Sénégal versus Niger
The reigning champions Senegal has a date against Menas du Niger on January 07, 2024 at the Abdoulaye Wade Stadium in Dakar.
Angola versus Guinea Bissau
Angola and Guinea-Bissau also planned to test each other before the CAN.
