Yusuf Abdulazeez’s brace sinks Lobi Stars in Gombe

 

Yusuf Abdulazeez’s brace and an own goal from Onyeka in the second half of the match four fixture of the#NPFL 2021/2022 played at the Pantami stadium gave Gombe United their first win of the season.

It was a very tight battle in the first stanza as both sides fired their arsenal from all angles but to no avail; Ibrahim Yahaya came closer when he smartly curled the ball from the right in the 8′ but his effort was saved by GK Emeka, later on Sama’ila Bello beat two of his markers from the left flank, penetrating into the box before crossing as the ball spilt on Endurance who tried to clear the ball to safety. A corner kick was awarded despite a penalty appeal.

The Savannah Scorpions continued from where they stopped from the first half as the combination of Ibrahim Yahaya, Ahmed Jimoh and Sama’ila Bello upfront continue to be a menace to the visitor’s defence line, while the minefield was well marshalled by the trio of Kelechi Chimeze, Samuel Oyedeji and young promising Mohammed Aminu.

Rahman Olarenwaju, Alege Abdulquadri, Sadiq Shuaibu and Sani Shehu shield Gombe United’s defense line perfect well to deny penetration from Lobi Stars attacking line.

The hosts’ unwavering efforts finally paid off as Yusuf Abdulazeez sc who came in just three minutes scored twice – a long-range effort in the 52′ and a header from Ahmed Jimoh’s crossed in the 74′ while a Onyebuchi Onyeka put the ball inside his net in the 58′.

The rampaging United side continued to pushed for more goals as they took total control of the game and at the dying minutes Ibrahim Yahaya scored an acrobatic goal but was on off side as the flag went up.

Yusuf Abdulazeez is Gombe United leading scorer with three goals all scored coming from the bench ( 2 goals against Lobi and 1 against Nasarawa United). Ahmed Jimoh had two assists so far.
