Match Report: Wikki Tourists vs Sunshine Stars


The second round of the 2022/23 Nigeria Premier Football League(abridge) Season resumed this weekend in the country with matches decided at different venues.

WIkki Tourists fc welcomes Sunshine Stars on match day 10 at Atb stadium Bauchi and the match was explosive as well shocking to the home team as it ended in a 1-1 draw.

First half of the game ended in a barren draw but not without clear un converted chances created by both teams where goalkeepers of both teams were put to test of their agility.

On resumption into the second half Wikki Tourists fc made quick changes which paid in the 50′ when Muhammed Rabiu was held in the box by Sunshine defence in a goalbound move and Captain Muhammed Guda waste no time in converting to give Wikki the desired lead.

Sunshine Stars on their part also made some introduction as they search for an equalizer.

Cletus Emotan Eba was handy for his team in the 87′ to head home an equalizer after a struggle by Wikki goalkeeper to save a header by Sunshine player failed.

WIkki Tourists players fought back with all they have to get a winning goal but time eluded them as the final whistle was blown.

Technical Adviser of Wikki Tourists Abdullahi Adamu in a post match interview said:

Alhamdulillah for the result because the boys played well in the second half even though we were unable to utilize chances that came our way.

Most unfortunately is our in ability to hold to the 1-0 lead and the visitors got an equalizer in the dying minutes.

What remain now is for us to plan ahead of our next game to see how we will go there and get a point to replace what we have lost today,Coach Abdullahi emphasized.

WIkki Tourists now occupies 8 position on the group B log with 9 points from 10 games and will be travelling to Kaduna for a mid week clash against Niger Tornadoes on Wednesday 29/3/2023.
