Lobi Stars launches Football Academy.. Players unveiled
— Parents, stakeholders commends management
Management, staff , Parents and Football stakeholders in Benue will not forget 13/11/2021 ,Saturday in hurry.
The day, youthful players of the Lobi Stars Football Academy were unveiled after a rigorous 40 days of screening, selection, documentation and signing of contracts , and medicals exercise.
As earlier as 7 am, even though the ceremony was scheduled for 9 am, excited players and their parents stormed Aper Aku stadium Makurdi to witness the historic event ,which most parent described as the first of its kind in the state.
Before the arrival of the vice chairman of Lobi stars football of Makurdi, the Director of Academy , Tony Aondona Shav, took time to explained why it was necessary to set up Football Academy and the target age groups.
Coach Shav, also explained how it all started and the process which culminated into the unveiling and solicited the support of the Parents so that the states can produce not just great footballers, but leaders of tomorrow.
Code of conduct was read by Coach Daniel Terfa, while parents who spoke , included DR. Daniel BO of BSU ,Lt.Col.T. Ezearo, of Special Forces ,Arc Ikyuan Briams , Mrs.Aligba and deputy speaker Benue Benue state House of Assembly all commended the Tama Aondofa led management of Lobi stars football club of Makurdi for setting up the Academy, and pledged their total support.
Vice chairman Lobi stars Football Club of Makurdi, Tama Aondofa, who is the brain behind the Academy said the desire is to have young players replace the old ones in the senior team which is the practice all over the world .
” I have observed that in the country the young have been cheated for so long by not taking up their position from the ageing footballers and this Academy is going to address such issues ” said Tama.
” I have worked in USA with great football academies ,who combined football and academics, am very sure , I will replicate same here in Benue, as time goes on, we ,shall go into partnership with some of the best football academies in the world ” said Tama.
He called for support of parents especially in bringing their children for training on time.
The Vice chairman said the coaches attached to the academy are the best found anywhere and assured parents that there will be nothing like favouritism as every child is selected base on merit and it will continue so as they progress in their football career .
Under 18/17/16/15/14/13/12 and 10/11 combined were unveiled and shortly after that, parents signed an undertaking for their children.
For Lobi stars and football in Benue , it can only get better.
