SAFA file formal complaint to CAF & FIFA following Ghana defeat

The South African Football Association (SAFA) are filing a formal complaint to CAF and FIFA about their dissatisfaction with the officiating in Ghana game.

The Bafana Bafana were knocked out of the FIFA World Cup qualification race after their 1-0 defeat against Ghana in the last round fixture of the group stage.

With the three points of the game, Ghana are now topping Group G and will be advancing to the qualifications final round.

The only goal of the confrontation came through Andre Ayew after Ghana were awarded a penalty kick half an hour into the game.

However, the South African Football Association believe the penalty kick was a dubious one, so they will be writing to CAF and FIFA to investigate.

“Match officials decided the game which is not supposed to happen so as the association we have decided that we will be writing to both CAF and FIFA to investigate how the game was handled and also challenge some of the decisions,” says SAFA CEO.
