Ademola Lookman switches allegiance from England after Fifa approve Leicester star’s international swap

FIFA has approved on-loan Leicester ace Ademola Lookman’s nationality switch from England to Nigeria.

Lookman, 24, came through the youth ranks with England at both Under-19 and U21 levels. The former Charlton ace also helped England’s U20s win the U20 World Cup in 2017.

But with Lookman far off a senior international call-up to Gareth Southgate’s squad, the forward decided he’d make the switch to play for Nigeria.

And according to The Associated Press, Fifa have approved the switch.

Lookman has impressed in England this season, making 22 appearances for the Foxes across all competitions.

The attacker has managed to find the back of the net on five occasions and has picked up three assists along the way too.

His form could very well earn him a move back to the Premier League in the summer having spent the last two seasons on loan in the division, Or RB Leipzig, who paid £16million for him, may look to give him a chance in Germany.

Struggling Leipzig find themselves unusually low in the Bundesliga, sitting seventh behind the likes of Koln, Union Berlin and Freiberg.

The German outfit were also knocked out of the Champions League in the group stages but will have a second shot at European silverware.

Their third-placed finish confirmed their play in the round of 32 of the Europa League.
