Open letter to Plateau State Governor, Rt.Hon. Simon Lalong on why he needs to fulfill his pledge to Plateau United players [ 2017 set] , 5 years after

Exactly Five years ago , 45 players of plateau United and it technical and backroom staff gave their best to lift the elite trophy 🏆 in Nigeria ( the NPFL 🏆 ) .

Of course Nigerians far and near especially lovers of good football commended the excellent performance by the team which lead to their Victory.
Many spoke about the good support given by the Government , the fantastic display of soccer artistry during the campaign, and also the technical input of the coaches led by Kennedy Boboye .

All of these led to praises heaped on the team when they eventually met the sport loving Governor , His Excellency Simon Bako Lalong.

Meeting the governor alongside top Government functionaries was a moment many will never forget .

Celebrations by the supporters of plateau United lasted till day break.

The sound of loud applause and Jubilation was heard when Plateau state Governor, His Excellency Rt.Hon.Simon Bako Lalong openly promised the Players a sum of 1.5 million Naira and a plot of land each in Jos as an appreciation for a job well done and for bringing smiles on the faces of the good people of the State.

Football fans in Shendam where the Governor hails from were happy and over 40 ethnic groups in the State attested that Governor is a Sports Lover.

Five years gone , the promise made by the Governor is yet to be fulfilled.

A lot of questions have been asked regarding the Governors promise
Below are few out of the many questions raised.

1 . Was the promise made by the governor a mere _political statement ?_

2. Has the Governor forgotten he made a promise ?

3. Why exactly do players and officials need to remind or beg for this ?

It’s on record that players who ply their trade in Nigeria ain’t insured and when they retire they hardly get any meaningful means of living except few .

The 2017 set of the Triumphant Plateau United Team that did the state proud are appealing to His Excellency, the Executive Governor of Plateau State , Simon Lalong, to please fulfill the promise he made years ago.

We also urge relevant stakeholders within and outside Plateau State to please help plead with Mr Governor to redeem his pledge.
Failure to respond,we shall all proceed to the Governor’s office to express our displeasure on the 10th of August 2022

Dear Governor , Please kindly emulate other Governors who promptly redeem their pledges.
