Guinea will not host AFCON 2025

Felele247.com.have scooped that Confederation of African Football (CAF) has revoked Guinea’s rights to host the 2025 Africa Cup of Nations according to reports.

A document yet to be made public has been circulating on different media outlets detailing the development, although, it has not been established that Guinea are yet to get the communication from CAF.

The West African country were granted hosting rights in November 2018, but four years later, they have been withdrawn.

But a document with the CAF logo on it surfaced on Thursday noting that Guinea will not be ready to host the tournament by the time frame stated (the summer of 2025).

“The Executive Committee was unanimous that Guinea will not be ready to host the competition,” partly reads a CAF statement via their website.

“The Executive Committee took a unanimous decision based on the report as submitted that the tournament is withdrawn from Guinea.”

“The President suggested that a delegation be sent to Guinea to inform them of the decision taken by EXCO.”

CAF is yet to make any other official statement on who will replace Guinea as host of the coveted tournament.

However, Nigeria has this week expressed intentions of co-hosting it with Benin, with the former’s FA President Pinnick Amaju assuring readiness.
