Africa Transfer : Danish side sign Gambia U20 central defender
Danish side AC Horsens has completed the signing of The Gambia U20 central defender Alagie Saine has signed a contract until the summer of 2027, Felele247.com.ng understands.
AC Horsens has chosen to make use of the purchase clause in the lease with Alagie Saine, and the parties have agreed on a contract until the summer of 2027.
The Gambian centre-back attended trial training at Langmarksvej in mid-November, where he made a good appearance and got playing time in a training match against AGF.
Subsequently, AC Horsens agreed with his club Falcons FC on a rental agreement with a built-in purchase option, and this is the one that has now been changed to a permanent contract.
– Despite the fact that we haven’t seen much of him this spring because of the AFCON U20 and the U20 WC, he is clearly a player with great potential. He is fast, good with the ball, has a nice passing foot, and he is strong in his duel game. He must of course develop further physically, and then he must improve tactically, which is one of the reasons why we have not seen him in action yet, but that is completely natural. He has to get used to new surroundings and a different way of playing football, but after the summer holidays we will start a start-up where he will try to make himself known for the coming season, and we believe that he can be really good, says Niels Erik Søndergård.
Alagie Saine is currently enjoying a well-deserved holiday on top of the U20 World Cup, where Gambia progressed in the group stage before Uruguay made the final stop.
– I initially convinced the club after a trial training session, and I am happy that the contract has now become permanent, because I like the country and have been well received by everyone at the club. I knew James Gomez as a good guy before and he has helped me a lot and so have players like Matej Delac, Samson Iyede and Lubambo Musonda, but everyone has been nice to me. My ambition is to establish myself at the club and be sold on to a higher level in a few years, says Alagie Saine.
