Abdulrazaki Yahya; “Owan East LGA ELECTIONS MARRED WITH IRREGULARITIES, WE HAVE PETITIONED APPEALS COMMITTEE…”

The Head of grass root coaches and Chairmanship aspirant in the Owan East LGA elections, Abdulrazaki Yahya elections has stated that the election that produced Rasheed Oyakhire, another Chairmanship aspirant was highly flawed and has already filed a petition addressed to the Chairman of the appeals committee for LGA elections in Edo State titled ” PROTEST: EDO STATE LGA FA ELECTION.’

The petition reads in part; “With reference to the above subject, the grass root coaches of Owan West and East LGA wish to request and challenge the just concluded election that produced the Chairman of Owan East, Mr Rasheed Oyakhire as Chairman.

‘In light of the above, we wish to submit as follows;

” That Mr. Okungbowa Sylvester, the State Chairman Referees Association in Edo State confirmed that Mr Imiehe Blessing and Mr. Asimu Abdulrahman who were assigned as referees delegates and voted in the election are not members of the Referees Association

The petition further reads ‘That Mr Michael Edeki, one of the delegates assigned to represent the coaches is neither a coach in Owan West nor Owan East.’

The document further reads “that we want to draw the attention of the Chairman, appeals committee to the fact that the same names/list presented as delegates for the election had been earlier rejected which led to the cancellation and rescheduling of the election and the same rejected list was what was now finally presented for the elections” the petition submitted by Abdulrazaki reads

Another Chairmanship candidate and Proprietor of Dynamo Academicals, Edo State, Harrison Okaka has also come out to express his grievance with the conduct of the elections.

Speaking with the media, Harrison Okaka said that;
“The Owan LGA elections were marred with brazen irregularities and we have already petitioned the Appeals Committee Chairman, Mr. Monday Eguavoen who is a man of high repute. I believe he will do his due diligence by investigating our grievances as contained in the petition.’

Part of our grievances are ;

‘Some of the referees presented as delegates and who voted in the election are not members of the Edo State Referees Association which is a position confirmed by the Edo State Referees Association Chairman, Mr Sylvester Okungbowa who was physically present and identified some persons who are not referees and members of its association but yet were cleared to serve as delegates representing the referees for the election by the electoral committee.’

‘There was also a certain Garuba Burushaga who presented himself as a delegate from Owan LGA when the same person is contesting for the position of Vice Chairman in Esako LGA which makes him ineligible to have presented himself as a delegate for the Owan East elections’

Mr Harrison further stated that there was a case of intimidation on one Mr Odion who in the process lost the sum of 10,000 naira and 200 US dollars respectively. We have all the evidence on tape” Concluded Harrison
