Nigeria Nationwide League One outfit FC Sabon Gari has completed the signing of Joseph Dimlong as the new head coach of the club ahead of the Nigeria Nationwide League One which kick off in April 13th 2024.
The versertile football tactician was introduced to the club faithful at the club house in Sabon Gari , Club Chairman Mr. Chika George Chukwu expresses his delight for having the Pankshin born coach as the new coach of the club.
As the sun sets on the eve of January 31, 2024, FC Sabon Gari, Kano, eagerly anticipates the dawn of a new era with the appointment of their illustrious Club Manager. Born on March 8, in Kano but an indigene of Pankshin in Plateau state, Nigeria, he brings a legacy forged on the fields and sidelines of football.
*Early Life and Education*
Educated at Army Day Secondary, Bukavu Barracks, Kano, for O’ levels, and Dabo Special Primary School, Kano, for his Senior Secondary School Certificate and First Leaving School Certificate respectively, our manager embodies the spirit of lifelong learning. Fluent in English, Hausa, and Ngas (native), his multicultural background shapes his vision for the game.
*Playing Career*
From the bustling fields of Wambai United in Kano (1988-1989) to the strategic formations of Tahir Babes, Kano (1989-1990), and the dynamic play at First Bank FC, Lagos (1990-1991), his journey took him to Jigawa Golden Stars, Jigawa (1991-1994), Kano Pillars FC (1994-2000), El-Kanemi Warriors, Maiduguri (2001-2002), Inwaunyanwu National FC Owerri (2003-2004), and Wiki Tourist, Bauchi (2006).
His versatility resonated in positions such as central defence, defensive midfield, and right full back, leaving an indelible mark on each team.
*National Recognition*
The journey reached its zenith with national team call-ups, first in 1993 with the U-17 squad, 1999 for the U 20 squad, and ultimately in 1998, donning the revered Super Eagles jersey. These experiences etched his name in the annals of Nigerian football history.

*Transition to Coaching*
Undeterred by the final whistle on his playing days, our maestro seamlessly transitioned into coaching, acquiring certifications including the CAF C License in Abuja and Advanced Coaching Certificates in Lagos.
*Coaching Odyssey*
His coaching voyage commenced at DIMS Academy in Kano, and he left an indelible mark on clubs across Nigeria, from Kano Pillars to Markie Academy and beyond. Notably, he steered Kano Stars FC from Division II to Division I in 2022.
*Triumphs and Achievements*
The Club Manager’s coaching accolades include playoff berths with Kano Stars FC in 2022 and 2023, a fourth-place finish with Al-Kali Nassara FC in Niger Republic in 2014, and silver and bronze medals with the Federal College of Education, Kano, at the All Nigerians College of Education Games in 2012. In the most recent events, he led his team, DIMS FC, to victory, securing the gold medal in the 6th edition and silver medals in the 7th edition of the prestigious DCC 27 Super 8 competition in Kano.
