Kwara United v Akwa United Matchday 31 NPFL encounter confirmed for 4.00pm, Sunday

The Matchday 31 Nigeria Premier Football League (NPFL) encounter between Kwara United and Akwa United earlier fixed for 2.00pm on Saturday April 20, 2024 has been re-arranged to hold on Sunday April 21, 2024, by 4.00pm.

The re-arrangement, as requested by Kwara United, was to allow the team enough time to prepare, after a long journey to and from Gombe United, for the Matchday 30 encounter on Tuesday, which they won 1-2. Kwara United arrived Ilorin midnight Wednesday.

In a letter dated April 18, 2024, and signed by the Chief Operating Officer (COO) of the NPFL, Davidson Owumi, and captioned “Re: Request for change of date (NPFL Week 31 match between Kwara United FC vs Akwa United FC), the body approved the request, conditionally.

“Please be informed that your request is coming outside of the stipulated time prescribed in Rule B13.10 of the NPFL Framework and Rules which stipulates that; A club may, not less than 72 hours before the time fixed for any match, apply to the NPFL to re-arrange a fixture”

The NPFL stated that the request constitutes a breach of its Framework and Rules, and also disrupt the published fixtures, and caused both financial and logistical inconvenience to the visiting team and other participating stakeholders and partners of the NPFL.

The request was approved with conditions, which Kwara United has accepted to take full responsibility for.

The club Chairman, Kumbi Titiloye therefore, enjoin the Fans, Supporters and stakeholders to troop out en masse on Sunday, to support the club against visiting Akwa United, pointing out that it’s their support that has been sustaining the team.
