Adeyemi FC Shines Despite Loss to Shooting Stars in Oyo State Federation Cup Semifinal Clash
The Ibadan-based professional football club, Adeyemi FC, displayed outstanding performances in the Oyo State Federation Cup semifinal stage against Shooting Stars of Ibadan on Thursday, March 28, 2024, at Lekan Salami Stadium, Adamasingba, Ibadan, the capital city of Oyo State.
Omole Adebusuyi started the game for Coach Drey-tutored side with a series of attempts in the early minutes of the game, as Omole made efforts to give Adeyemi FC the lead through his brilliant free kicks. However, Shooting Stars goalkeeper Gbolahan stood by to divert it away.
Shooting Stars also stepped up by launching attacks, but Olayiwola Habeeb continued to curb Shooting’s efforts. Okeleke Victor tested Shooting Stars’ goalkeeper with a brilliant shot, but Gbolahan quickly responded by diverting it for a corner.
Actions continued in the second half, with Shooting Stars quickly making substitutions to suppress the attacks. After a few minutes into the second half, Ayobami Junior gave Shooting Stars the lead through his long-range shot.
In an attempt to re-strategize and ease the workload on Abiola Joshua, Olawoye Abiodun made way for Bello Akeem, and Abiola operated from the front. Several attempts from Abiola Joshua and Ogunbode Timothy proved abortive, and Shooting Stars made it to the final with a lone goal from Ayobami Junior.
