Badagry United the first community ownership club in Nigeria
BADAGRY UNITED FOOTBALL CLUB became the first community ownership football club to be officially launched amongst the proposed 774 community ownership football club by Community Football Foundation (CFF) in Nigeria.
Badagry United FC, held her official launching of the N200 million take-off fund, with Alh. Fatai Adegboyega Shokunbi (CEO of Fams Embassy Suites) as the chief launcher.
An exhibition match which ended at (1 – 1) was played between Badagry United FC and Ota United S.C to add flavor to the occasion. The 2 clubs are Community ownership football club facilitated by Community Football Foundation (CFF) led by Ex Green Eagles player Austin Popo.
The paramount ruler of Badagry kingdom HRM, De when Aholu Meno Toyi 1, The Akran of Badagry Kingdom, the Grand Patron of Badagry United FC showed his unwavering support and also made a donation to kick start the project.
Patron Of Badagry United FC and Fundraising Committee Chairman, HRM, Oba Oyekan Adekanmi Ajose Ilufemiloye, Possi 111, The Alapa Of Apa Kingdom, his cabinet members and Apa royal council had been extraordinary with immense contributions financially, morally, and physically attending to Badagry United FC needs since inception.

HRH Prince Adeyemi Seyon Akran (President Of Badagry United FC) donated 2 acres of land and Alh. Gafar Liameed (CEO 36Lion) also donated 1 plot of land to Badagry United FC to erect a stadia of her own.
Badagry LG, Olorunda lcda and Badagry West lcda chairmen were duly represented.
The presence of the representatives of the military and paramilitary agencies i.e Nigerian Custom Service, seme command, Nigerian Civil Defense Corp, Badagry, FRSC, Badagry, Nigerian Police Force, seme command, Nigerian Army, 243 Recce Battalion, Ibereko barracks, Badagry, Nigerian Army Engineers, topo barracks, Alh Lawan Funtua Director Seme Border were significant.
Acting DC Enforcement, Staff officer and PRO are the representative of the Nigerian Custom Service, Seme Border Command under the leadership of CAC Bello Jibo, donated 4 sets of jerseys and 10 balls, Representative of the Nigerian Police Force, picked up the Gold Fan Membership and promised to sell the club to his colleagues.
Hon. Layode and host of other dignitaries also picked up various categories BUFC Fan membership, amongst others who made donations were; BUFC Director Diaspora Mr Sherifudeen Olaseni Carew, Ex Int. A huge success was recorded in the history of Nigeria and kudos to brain behind this laudable project Comr. Austin Popo, Facilitator Of Community Football Foundation (CFF) who is on the course to deliver 774 community ownership football club nationwide.
Badagry United FC is the flagship bearer of the Community football foundation and has set the structure and platform for other community ownership football club to thread on.
