The governor now most capped Super Eagles player
Nigeria captain, Ahmed Musa, has surpassed two former Nigerian Internationals has he made his 103 appearances in the Nigeria senior football team “Super Eagles” colours,Felele247.com reports.
The 29-year-old former Kano Pillars forward who started his football professional career with JUTH FC of Jos have more appearance than former Everton defender Joseph Yobo and and former Super Eagles Vincent Enyeama.
The Jos born forward Musa reached this milestone after coming on to replace Kelechi Iheanacho in the 86th minute of a 2022 World Cup qualifier against Liberia on Saturday.
The winger had equalled Yobo and Enyeama’s record having earned his 101st cap in the 2-0 win over the Central African Republic on October 10.
Musa made his senior debut on August 5, 2010, in the 2012 Africa Cup of Nations qualifiers against Madagascar.
He scored his first goal for the Super Eagles in an international friendly against Kenya in March 2011 and has played at two AFCON tournaments as well as two FIFA World Cups.
In 2008, Musa was loaned to JUTH F.C.where he played 18 games, scoring four goals in his first two professional seasons for the Healers. He was subsequently loaned to Kano Pillars F.C., in the 2009–10 season where he set the league record scoring multiple crucial goals as Pillars finished second.
Musa held the record for the highest goals ever scored in one season in the history of the Nigeria Premier League until November 2011, when Jude Aneke of Kaduna United F.C. set a new record of 20 goals.
