CAF Champions League draws: Group stage matches to kick off February 2022

African Champions Al Ahly will defend their CAF Champions League trophy this season after been drawn alongside South Africa’s giants Mamelodi Sundowns, Sudanese side Al Hilal Omudurman and Al Merriekh  in group A.

South Africa’s new force AmaZulu will face Moroccan giants Raja Casablanca, Horoya AC of Guniea and Setif based side AS Setif from Algeria in group B.

Four times champions and Tunisian current champions Esperance du Tunis will slug it out against one of their rivals in the Tunisian premier league Etoile du Sahel alongside CR Belouizdad and newcomers Jwaneng Galaxy from Bostwana in Group C

Another African club powerhouse Zamalek SC of Egypt will file out against Angola giants Petro de Luanda, including Casablanca side Wydad Casablanca and Sagrada Esperanca of Angola.

The draw for the 2021-22 TotalEnergies CAF Champions League Group Stage was conducted at CAF Headquarters in Cairo, Egypt on Tuesday 28 December 2021.

Pitso Mosimane, coach of Egyptian giants Al Ahly SC, assisted Khaled Nassar, CAF Head of Competitions in the draw that paved the way towards the group stage of the premier continental club

 

Following are the groups:

Group A: 🇪🇬 Al Ahly (Egypt), 🇿🇦 Mamelodi Sundowns (South Africa), 🇸🇩 Al Hilal Omdurman (Sudan), 🇸🇩 Al Merrikh (Sudan)

Group B: 🇲🇦 Raja Casablanca (Morocco), 🇬🇳 Horoya (Guinea), 🇩🇿 ES Setif (Algeria), 🇿🇦 Amazulu (South Africa)

Group C: 🇹🇳 Esperance de Tunis (Tunisia). 🇹🇳 Etoile du Sahel (Tunisia), 🇩🇿 CR Belouizdad (Algeria), 🇧🇼 Jwaneng Galaxy (Botswana)

Group D: 🇲🇦 Wydad Casablanca (Morocco), 🇪🇬 Zamalek (Egypt), 🇦🇴 Petro de Luanda (Angola), 🇦🇴 Sagrada Esperanca (Angola)

The group stage of the CAF Champions League will kick off 11th of February 2022 across the continent of Africa.
