YOBE DESERT STARS FC MANAGEMENT COMMITTEE HOLDS INAUGURAL MEETING WITH STATE GOVERNMENT

.The Management of Yobe Desert Stars FC held their inaugural meeting with the State Government at the office of the Permanent Secretary Ministry of Youths, Sports, Social and Community Development Damaturu, Yobe State.

In attendance was the Permanent Secretary Engr. Isyaka Lawa, the Special Adviser to the Governor on Sports Development Hon. Musa Gamcho Telah, The Attorney General of the State represented by Bar. Babayo N. Abdullahi, and The New Nine-Men Management Committee members, among them are, Dr. Habu Abdulrahman Ago (FIFA) – Acting Chairman, Divine Benjamin Ogbonaya – General Manager (represented by Mr. Kwaghzever Terfa Morris), Musa Mohammed Jankoli – Team Manager, Barrister M.B. Yusuf – Legal Adviser, Kwaghzever Terfa Morris – Team Coordinator, Hassan Dauda – Referees Coordinator, Ahmed Babi – Secretary/ TMS Officer, Obi Ifeanyichuku Emmanuel – Media Officer and Audu Ibrahim Masaya – Accountant.

 

The permanent Secretary Engr. Isyaka Lawan started by wishing the committee “good luck” and also reiterated that the government expects to make some benefit from the partnership with the investors, and stresses the need for the management committee to show commitment and ensure that benefit comes out from their appointment so that the people can see and appreciate their efforts.

The Special Adviser Hon. Musa Gamcho Tela, speaking on the importance of sensitization, stressed the importance of making clear and simple the benefit that is expected from the joint venture towards the people, club, the Government and Investor; and in response, Barrister M.B. Yusuf, the Legal Adviser of the club highlighted in clear terms the roles of engagement of both parties (the government and investor), the roles and responsibilities of the parties and also praised the initiative, also hoping that the results will far surpass the expectation of the government and the good people of Yobe State.

Also speaking, The Acting Vice Chairman, Dr. Habu Abdulrahman Ago (FIFA) in reaction and contribution to the discussion, made it clear that all parties are aware of their responsibility and how every member of the management committee is quite clear of what is expected of them and also stressed that the reason for the collaboration is to ensure that a proper business structure is put in place for the possibilities of bringing about growth and profit for both Government and the Investor

Also contributing to the discussion and speaking on behalf of the investor, Mr. Kwaghzever Terfa Morris. He made it clear that the investors are here for business because football is business and they are solely interested in taking actions that will bring about results that will speak volumes. He continued by saying that “Yobe Desert Stars FC is a club with a huge history in Nigeria football and for that reason, the investor has decided to work and partner with Yobe Desert Stars FC to restore its glory and bring them to the pinnacle of football among their contemporary.”

The Attorney General of the state, through his representative Bar. Babayo pointed the Management Committee and Investor to the MOU as a working document which all the terms should be abided by and wished the team the best in their endeavour.

In conclusion, the Permanent Secretary urged every member of the Management Committee to be on their toes, roll their sleeves and ensure that the trust imposed on them is not taken with laxity.
