With two games and two goals, Indofreke Efdiong joins an iraqi club

Nigerian forward Ndifreke Effiong has completed a season contract deal in an undisclosed fee to an Iraqi league leader Al Quwa Al-Jawiya just after two games with his native state Akwa United FC after returning from Lybian 🇦🇫 Ahly Benghazi, Felele247 Media understands.

The former Abia Warriors forward scored a brace in. his second for the 2020/2021 Nigeria Champions against bottom-of-group B Nasarawa United in Jos last month.

Ndifreke started his professional football career with Nigeria National League side Abia Comets in 2015 before securing a three-year deal with Abia Warriors of Umuahia where he scored 40 in 92 appearances.

In the 2019 off-season transfer window, Akwa United announced that they have secured his services to feature for the club.

The Akwa Ibom-born forward made 31 appearances and scored 17 goals before making a sensational Benghazi giants AK Ahly Bengajazi, scoring 17 goals in 21 games.

He has represented Nigeria at the 2015 African Games, the 2015 Africa U-23 Cup of Nations, and the 2016 Summer Olympics. He made his debut for the Nigeria national football team on 26 March 2019 in a friendly against Egypt, as a 90th-minute substitute for Shehu Abdullahi.

The Air force club on Wednesday, February 1, 2023, announced it had completed the signing of the 24-year old Nigerian international alongside Ghana’s Afriyie Acquah.

Founded in 1931, Al Quwa Al-Jawiya is the oldest existing club in Iraq and currently sits top of the 14-weeks old 2022/2023 Iraqi Premier League table.

Manager Hakeem Shakir will be boosted by the arrival of two vastly experienced African players as the Bagdàd based outfit looks to better their 2nd place finish from last season.

Al Quwa Al-Jawiya fans will hope to get a sight of free-scoring Ndifreke Effiong at the 40000 capacity Al Shaab Stadium on February 6 in Matchday 15 action of the 2022/2023 Iraqi Premier League season.
