Serie A market values: Osimhen joins the €100m club – Pogba drops to lowest value since 2013
Italy’s Serie A once again has a €100 million player after the new market value update, which saw 150 players given new values – and a new leader in terms of squad value. Top scorer Victor Osimhen is currently the tenth player to break the nine-figure barrier and, together with his team-mate Khvicha Kvaratskhelia, has pushed league leaders and Champions League quarter-finalists Napoli into first place in the Italian top-flight’s squad value rankings. This now puts Napoli’s squad market value at €629m only just behind the top 10 in European football.
Osimhen and Kvaratskhelia, who saw market value increases of €30m and €25m respectively, are once again the big winners in Serie A. With the striker now valued at €100m and his Georgian teammate worth €85m. “The Nigerian centre-forward and his attacking partner have been in top form for months and, together with their teammates, are not only playing in a league of their own in Serie A but are among the favourites to reach the final of the Champions League,” explained Jatin Dietl, Area Manager Italy at Transfermarkt. “Should Osimhen move in the summer, we estimate he will bring in a nine-figure sum, given his contract runs until 2025. Manchester United, Liverpool and PSG are considered the hottest contenders for a transfer.”
“Such leaps within a year have been very rare in Serie A in recent years – but Kvaratskhelia combines all the attributes of a future superstar in European football,” added Dietl. “The fact that he has slightly less speculation surrounding him in the rumour mill than Osimhen is probably only due to the fact that he has a much longer contract – until 2027 – and center-forwards generally have a bigger market.”
From Napoli’s point of view, defensive additions such as Min-jae Kim (+€15 to €50m) – who was valued at just €14m in the summer – midfield metronome Stanislav Lobotka (+€8 to €38m) and goalkeeper Alex Meret (+€5 to €18m) add a whopping €86m to the squad’s value. In the Serie A rankings, the Naples side surpass last year’s champions and previous leaders AC Milan, who lost €24m to drop to €547m, and Inter Milan who lost €21.5m to stand at €534.5m behind them. This now means that Napoli can boast the most valuable squad in Italian football since Transfermarkt introduced market values in 2004.Serie A market values: Napoli rise to new heights as Vlahovic and Leão fall Rafael Leão, who was voted player of the season by the TM community in Serie A last season, has lost his top spot to the aforementioned Napoli duo. The Portuguese talent’s market value has fallen by €5m to €80m and now shares third place in the Italian top flight with Inter vice-captain and World Cup winner Lautaro Martínez, who in turn gained €5m. Juventus striker Dusan Vlahovic, who was also previously valued at €80m, was downgraded to €75m.
