CAF Executive Committee unanimously supports Morocco’s bid for the 2030 FIFA World Cup

The Executive Committee of the Confederation of African Football (CAF) has unanimously decided, on behalf of African football, to support Morocco’s bid to host the 2030 FIFA World Cup.

Morocco recently announced, during the 73rd FIFA Congress in Kigali, its bid to host the 2030 FIFA World Cup, together with Spain and Portugal.

CAF President Dr Patrice Motsepe said: “The unanimous decision taken by the CAF Executive Committee to support Morocco’s bid to host the 2030 FIFA World Cup means that Morocco’s bid is now that of the African continent. We are now focused on delivering a new FIFA World Cup in Africa and are committed to working with all national football associations and confederations to achieve this.”

CAF has also decided to open the bid to host the 2027 Africa Cup of Nations due to requests from many CAF member associations and their governments to host the continent’s major competition.

CAF will announce the nations selected to host the 2025 Africa Cup of Nations and the 2027 Africa Cup of Nations at the same time before September this year.

The CAF Executive Committee was also briefed on the substantial progress made with regard to the inaugural African Super League which will start later this year.
