NNL New Entrance announce Veteran coach Zachary Baraje as Technical Adviser

Nigeria 🇳🇬 Premier League debutant FC Ona Pal of Aba have completed the signing of one of Nigeria’s veteran coach Zachary Baraje as the first manager of the club, Felele247.com.ng understands.

The Aba based club will compete in the Nigeria National League 2023/2024 season which is expected to kick off in September.

The veteran coach Zachary Baraje handled the 2017 Nigeria. champions Plateau United in 2016 after leaving Akwa United in 2015.

FC ONA PAL Sporting Director Mazi Saint Jaka disclosed that the club decided to go for the veteran coach,so as to mentor and inject a fatherly instructions into the players and the team’s backroom staffs, because the club is relatively young.

Coach Zachary Baraje was born in 1950, in Suleja Niger State

He attended ECWA Primary School, Diko, 1958-63, before attending Government Secondary School, Abuja is in 1963-67;

After his secondary and Primary education, coach Zachary Baraje proceeded to Marine Engineering School, Lokoja, 1968-69.

Coach Zachary Baraje is among early set of National Institute for Sports from 1979 to 1980 and 1982..

As a professional footballer during his youthful days, coach Zachary Baraje started his football playing career with the 4th Brigade Nigerian Army, Onitsha in 1971-74;.

He joined Nigeria 1 Division Football Club, N.A. Kaduna, in 1973-74, before joining The Tigers FC of Ibadan 2 Division 1975-76; returned to the Armed Forces Team (Defence Stars) in 1977.

After retiring from active football, Coach Zachary Baraje started coaching with Niger Tornadoes Football Club of Minna, in 1984; Chief Coach, Zuma Rocks Football Club, Abuja, 1984; Chief Coach/Team Manager, NNPC Football Club, Kaduna, 1985; Chief Coach, Jos International Breweries, 1986-88; Chief Coach/Team Manager, Gombe United, Gombe, 1994; assL Technical Adviser, Kwasu Bomber, Ilorin, 1985; Chief Coach, Katsina United, Katsina, 1995; Chief Coach, Al-Hilal, Oman, 1995-96; Chief Coach, Katsina United, Katsina, May 1996; Chief Coach, 3SC, Ibadan, 1997-98. off: Shooting Stars Sports Club, Ibadan, Oyo State.

He was last appointed as manager at Bayelsa United in 2018.

He is expected to be introduce to the rest of the team in the coming days, as the team prepare for the 2023/2024 Nigeria National League season.
