Godwin Udoh return to the place of his birth to join Sporting Lagos

Nigeria Premier Football League outfit, Sporting Lagos has announced the signing of Godwin Udoh as their new signing ahead of the new season, Felele247.com.ng understands.

Godwin Udoh. The Lagos State native, born and raised in Agege, joins following two successive six-month spells with NPFL side, Shooting Stars FC of Ibadan.

Capable of playing across the front line, Sporting Lagos fans can come to expect the unexpected whenever Godwin is on the pitch with his explosiveness and ability to get past his man with ease. A product of Femmak Football Academy in Ikeja, Godwin’s skill and determination saw him earn a move to Croatian side HNK Gorica.

In an unforgettable debut which the striker admittedly holds dearly, he delivered a stellar performance – winning the man of the match award for his two goals and an assist. Upon his return to Nigeria following the COVID-19 pandemic, Udoh would go on to represent NNL side Vandrezzer FC and most recently, Ibadan-based side Shooting Stars.

His reputation as a dangerous forward is well-earned as he contributed an impressive 3 goals and 7 assists for the NPFL side last season. Looking forward to the imminent kickoff of the NPFL season, Udoh cannot wait to start in front of a Lagos crowd for the first time in his career.

“I have never played for a professional club in Lagos, and that was one thing that really excited me about this move. I can’t wait to play in front of the fans and to show them the players they have. It would be nice to put a smile on their faces.” Udoh said. We wish Udoh all the best on the pitch as he embarks on this exciting new chapter in his career with us. The forward would wear the number 9 Jersey in the 2023/24 NPFL season.
